My wonderful husband and I were married on August 14th, 2004 in Macon, Georgia.  I know, silly place to get married in August, the hottest month of the year, but we got married there nonetheless!  We went on our  honeymoon to Ceasar’s Poconos Resort (yep – the one with the champagne glass whirpool that you see in all the magazines! 🙂 ) and then moved everything to Parkersburg, West Virginia, where my husband was a youth pastor for three years to some of the most remarkable teens in the world!  We had a blast watching them grow and mature, and loved watching them become more like Christ every day.

While we were there, our beautiful daughter was born on October 19th, 2006.  Within a few hours of her birth, it became obvious that she was having severe troubles breathing.  She was rushed to a larger hospital in Charleston, WV, which was 80 miles from where I was.  The doctors told us that they weren’t sure if she would make it or not.  After 6 days of not being able to breathe on her own, and after literally thousands of people were praying for her, she tried to pull the tube out of her mouth, and began breathing on her own.  Two days later, she was on her way home, and life hasn’t stopped ever since! 🙂

After several months of searching what God had for us, we moved back down to Greenville, SC, in August of 2007, where we had been for our college years, and Chris began working on his M.A. degree in Pastoral Studies at Bob Jones University.  He also started a new job as a web strategist for the Worthwhile Company which is downtown Greenville.  I’m currently taking care of Chloe and enjoy catering for weddings and large dinner parties and showers. I teach piano and do a few Pampered Chef shows, too!

We bought this house, which we LOVE, and are excited about the ministering opportunities we’ve already had with our neighbors, and can’t wait to see what God has for us while we are here.

God gave us another little girl, Kami, who has just been a blast to have around. She loves to play with her big sister – they are “favorite friends” – and play games on her Daddy’s iPad.

Now, in 2012, Chris is finished with school, we’ve been blessed with 40 or so college kids to cook for, do laundry for, and hang out with. And we’ll wait to see what God has for us next somewhere in the great big beautiful world He has made for us! For now, our biggest challenge is dealing with our third unborn child. This little blessing has been pre diagnosed with a condition known as Trisomy 18, or Edwards Syndrome. It has a very small chance of living to term and an even smaller one of living outside the womb. This blog, which started as a cooking outlet for me, has quickly become a semi-support site for the small few mothers out there who are looking for others going through similar trisomy diagnoses and have made the decision to carry their babies to term.

I hope that this blog will be an encouragement to you, and provide some good information – if for nothing else than to make you smile just a little! 🙂

  1. just wanted to say hello! I found your awesome blog & noticed that you live in one of my favorite places-Greenville! My family & I visit 1-2 times a year! I LOVE it there! If I could, I would move there tomorow!

  2. I wanted to leave a comment and say “hi”. I ran across your blog in looking for some CVS info. I just moved to Greenville in July 2007. I’ve known the Woosters since 2004 (met them on Guam when we were all there for a missions trip). It’s a small world! -Jenni

  3. Kim,
Thanks for the comment on my blog! I’ve heard about the Sav-Mor sales before, but never gone. I’ll have to give it a try this weekend! If you’re going, you should be able to spot me pretty easily. I’ll be on my bike (see my blog for pictures of my unusual bike).

I have a couple questions – Do they provide the boxes? Do they take credit cards?

  4. HI! You have a beautiful family and inspiring testimony:) I am excited to make your Starbucks Frappuccino recipe tomorrow for a dessert auction at church tomorrow night, but will be on my way to the store here shortly for supplies. When it says a “1 package Starbucks Via Caramel flavored coffee…$7 bag”, what do you mean? Are you talking one packet of via? The whole package of packets of Via? And I don’t understand the “bag” part, as they come in a little box of packets…so now I am really confused, and I don’t want to make them and mess up, LOL;) Please let me know! You can email me. Thank you so much! God Bless~ Patience

  7. I found this blog after seeing your INCREDIBLE starbucks cupcakes and couldn’t stop reading and scrolling through! I just wanted to encourage you and say after reading your “About us” page your honesty and desire for God and his plans for you and your family, and the way he is so clearly using your gifts in cooking, catering, being a mother, wife and a friend is so encouraging! I am 22 and have just recently got married (2 weeks ago!) and have a such a passion for sharing God’s love to children and youth alongside baking, loving, mothering! I am still unsure of the plans God has for me and the gifts he has given me which I have been struggling with recently but finding this blog helps me to note that these desires in me can be used. Sorry for the ramble, I just wanted to say I don’t even know you but your trust and dependence on our father is awesome! Keep baking, keep loving xxx

  8. Hi,

I just had a quick question in regards to your website. If you could email me at your convenience that would be great!

    Thanks,

    Katie

  9. Followed your Starbucks cupcakes from Pinterest. As soon as I saw the words “Haywood Road” I did a triple take. What a coincidence. I have a store in Greenville, and pass Bob Jones twice a day. My daughter went to BJ Academy. We are so blessed to live in this wonderful area! Hope to run into you somewhere – other than Haywood Road.

  10. hi, Kim
Enjoyed meeting you and talking with you at the Wilds. Elizabeth sent me the link for your blog. I will be praying for you–every day– through this trial. I can’t even imagine the range of emotions you must go through on a daily basis.
    God bless.

  11. Hello. I think of you many times during the day. I found your blog after searching some terms that came up on some ultrasound paperwork of my own…and then searched for them, found all the trisomy pages, then searched “homeschooling and trisomy” and found your blog. I have read every word, serval times. Even the food… And lovely pictures. I think you are about 4-6 weeks down the same road I am on with our 6th pregnancy. I am sure The Lord led me to your blog and it has inspired me with the truth of his Word and given me hope and gratitude. Thank you. I look forward to your updates and would be interested in communicating via email if you are able.

  12. Kim, So sorry for the loss of your precious little boy. I’m so thankful for the comfort the Lord provides…Blessings, Siobhain in MI

  13. Love the site! I was curious on the Starbucks cupcakes, did you use small coffee cups for the wraps or print your own?

  14. Hi there, I came across your site as I was searching for the song “I’m special to Jesus”. I couldn’t get the video to play though. Any suggestions? Do you have it posted anywhere else that I can try to view? I love this song and wanted to share it with our preschool music teacher. In searching for this song, it looks like I have found a great new site to follow. 🙂 Thanks, Pam

  15. Kim, I have followed your blog for a while but had never read your post about going to the Build a bear workshop with your children to make Kyle Bears. I am writing a children’s book about pregnancy loss/infant death and have begun a website with resources for parents about how to talk with their living children about a sibling who is going to Heaven. May I include a link to this post on it? The website is http://www.oneinheaven.weebly.com and you may contact me at naomiscircle@gmail.com. Thank you!

  16. I think you are one very courageous woman. I am blessed to have discovered your blog, which was discovered through MoneySavingMom.com! Thank You for living for the Lord, despite all you’ve been through! Take Care!

  17. Hello Kim and God bless you and your family! God is truly amazing! All glory to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! I came across your blog by reading a post you had on Money Saving Mom and I started reading your story. You are truly an amazing person, a beautiful, strong and God loving woman! Me and my husband have recently gone through a still birth, a baby girl at 26 weeks….I don’t like calling it a baby loss because in reality it is not a loss, we will see them again, one day! I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story and I wish you and your family all the best. May God be with you and may He continue His great works through you and your family! 🙂

  18. Hi Kim your story was so touching. It was heart touching to see that there is someone else who has been blessed with a eternal spirit and has returned him to Heavenly Father like I have. It has now been almost 18 years but still is with me day after day but I am so blessed to know that I will be with her again some day. Your husband and daughters are so darling. You are in our thoughts and prayers!
